Kimberley Swimming Club swimmers, Gemma Calder, Mollie Wright and Ben Barsby all competed in a number of events over the weekend, at the Youth County Championships.
Given that all the events for all the distances are over one weekend  and having qualified in a number of events they selected their preferred events to compete in. All performed really well over the weekend, all gaining top 6 and medal positions.

Mollie gained a host of new personal bests and medals. She came 3rd in the 400m freestyle, 4th in the 200m butterfly and 5th in the 400m individual medley and in the events with finals, she came 2nd in the 200m freestyle, 3rd in the 100m individual medley, 4th in the 100m freestyle and 6th in the 100m butterfly.
Ben in the finals came 4th in the 50m backstroke, gaining a personal best and his first Midland District Qualifying time in that event, 4th in the 50m butterfly after swimming the final twice, due to a technical issue and 2nd in the 50m freestyle, getting a personal best in the heat of  24.88 seconds, then a further personal best in the final of 24.26.
Gemma and Mollie also competed in the girls 15/16yrs medley and freestyle relay assisted by Charly Neilson and Jade Calder. In the 4x 50m freestyle the girls came 4th only narrowly missing a podium position. In the 4 x 50m medley relay the girls secured the silver medals behind Nottingham Leander after a very fast last leg from Jade, who managed to hold off the Sherwood team, who finished less than half a second behind.
