World record swim attempt at Nottingham

We have been asked by the Rotary club of Nottingham to contribute to a world attempt on the record for the most people swimming at the same time anywhere in the world.

It is being organised by Rotary Clubs around the world in aid of their End Polio Campaign and Nottingham Rotary Club will be organising a Nottingham entry at John Carroll Leisure Centre, Denman Street central, Radford, Nottingham on Saturday 25th February 2012 between 12noon and 1pm.

Swimmers will swim in a loop up and down lanes and complete 100 metres(4 lengths of the pool). To qualify they need to have 25 swimmers minimum. They have two lanes available and with 6 swimmers allowed per lane at the same time in theory with an average time of 10 minutes they could have 36 swimmers per lane. They will have lane attendants and witnesses available to meet the rules of the Guinness Book of Record attempt. World wide they are hoping for more than 25,000 swimmers to be involved which would beat the record which currently stands at 2332 people.

There is normally a £2 donation entry fee to go to End Polio Now but as Nottingham is a late entrant to this and time is short Nottingham Rotary will happily meet this.

More information about the event is on their website
www.rotaryglobalswimarathon.org

Every participant will receive a signed certificate of participation.

Please contact Alan as soon as possible if you wish to take part in this as the event takes place next Saturday. (We have been asked to take at least 20 swimmers if possible)
