Swimsuits

Thinking of buying your child a new swim suit?

From January, the rules are changing regarding what swim suits can be worn for competition swimming as determined by FINA the sports governing body.

Please be aware that Female swimmers will only be allowed to use costumes that do not extend past the knee and do not cover the arms whilst the Male swimmers can only wear trunks or jammers (i.e from the hip to the knee)

Textile fabric only.

There are a lot of websites/shops selling swimsuits cheaply. Please make sure you buy the correct gear for competion swimming.

Robin Hood Marathon 13/09/2009

On Sunday, some members of the club took part in the fun run event as part of the Robin Hood Marathon. Gail Colqughoun persuaded some of the club members to join her team of over 50 people to run the event in aid of Kidney Research.

We all met in the Experian Marquee and enjoyed
the hospitalty of the hosts.

before warming up and then 'enduring' the fun run. It was noted that a lot of the kids beat the adults, with even Elvis Presley overtaking Alan on the finishing line!!

An enjoyable day was had by all with a worthy cause benefitting.

Drayton Manor Park 06/09/2009

On Sunday 6th September at 8.30am (a rather early start for some people!!) a coach load of swimmers and parents from KSC set off for a day out to Drayton Manor theme park!
We arrived at Drayton Manor at about 9.30a.m. After racing off the coach and being given our tickets to get in, everyone made their way around the theme park. Not knowing that the rides didn't open till 10.30 we headed straight for the log flume and got right near the start of the queue, but then had to wait for 45 minutes for it to open! Whilst others had the more sensible idea of going to look around the zoo first whilst waiting for the rides to open! When the log flume finally opened, we were one of the first boats to set off so we didnt really know what to expect. Luckily, Alan chose to sit at the back.. and got SOAKED! Which was rather funny!) Unfortunately though, this meant he decided not to go on it again for the rest of the day as he wanted to dry off! (maybe some of the rest of us should have done the same instead of spending the whole day on the log flume which was very funny but also made us very wet and cold!) There were plenty of other rides to go on such as G-Force and Shockwave - for the more daring people, and also Thomas Land for the younger people (or not so young in some cases!).
At dinner, the ones which had brought lunch with us went back to the coach and sat in the car park to eat it, and the rich people amongst us bought some food there!
After being full once again with sandwiches, crisps, chocolate (and for some people, alcohol!) and also mostly dried off, or wearing a spare set off clothes!, we headed back into the theme park for the afternoon! Our first stop, after the toilets!, was the haunted house kind of thing which was horrible!! and resulted in a few tears, but the buffalo rollercoaster soon made up for that! We then made our way to the rapids which were finally open! And again, got a bit wet!! But again, was worth it! (Its a good job we are a swimming club and so are used to getting wet!!)
After the rapids, again we went on the log flume and about drowned once again! But had fun looking at the photos which were taken on the way down!
As we had to be back at the coach for 4-4.30 we then had our last go on the log flume, getting soaked! Which was perfect timing for the coach home.. NOT! Luckily, we had brought some spare clothes with us! (But could of done with more!) After emptying wellies full of water, sorting our hair out, taking and laughing at a few more photos, we headed back up to the coach, buying ice creams on the way!
When we got back onto the coach, we changed into spare clothes, ate some more food and waited for the coach to leave! After taking even more photos, giving each other new 'hairstyles'. singing along (very well!) to the radio and playing a few games of hangman, we finally arrived back at the leisure centre, having enough time to go home, have some tea and be back again in time for a training session that night! Commitment!!!
Overall, it was an awesome day!! Great memories and great photos! Would definitely go again! But for longer next time, so that we could see the rest of the theme park and the zoo!
Thank you for organising it and can't wait for the next KSC day out!!
Lizzie :)"..
