Kimberley Pram Race

On Sunday, a group of swimmers and parents took part in the annual Kimberley Pram Race.
With just three weeks notice to build a 'pram' Chris Hemstock was designated team leader and with a lot of help from the Mansfield family a 'pram' was built -with a water theme -and a team put together.

....and they ended up finishing first place as the 'fastest pram'

Broxtowe Trophy Gala 21/07/2012

We came first on the night.

Northern 126
Broxtowe LC 128
Radford 190
Bramcote 202
Kimberley 237

Well done to all the kids.   With 22 first places and 28p.bs just too many for special mentions, except to Lily Orme, Georgia Stevens,Shannon Austin, Faye Everall, Robert Smith, Alex Cooke,Emma Stevenson and Abigail Harvey for their first gala. With many others only competing for the first or second time the gala had a real 'novice' feel to it and the kids should be proud of their efforts.

Many thanks to Phil for starting,  Amber and Neil for timekeeping, Kay for managing, Carol for doing the desk and Lynn Orme for doing the drinks.

Notts A.S.A Centenary Fun Gala

On Sunday 15th July, we had a few (mad and insane) children took part in the Notts ASA fun gala at Beechdale Baths.  Myself and Shirley were very baffled by the 'rules' and the 'swimming techniques' they were requesting!  After a bit of research on google and you tube we were still lost so decided to ask the 'staff'.......only to be told they didnt know either and the rules are made to be broken!!

We had all kinds of fun as you can imagine!!  It started of with an 'Obstacle Race' which all the kids had a part of in some way!!  Pleased to say we won in true KSC form!!  Then entering into a 'Plunging' contest!!!  After watching so many children do it, little Sam Knowles from teaching pool decided he wanted to have a go......when I asked if he could dive....he replied with 'yes I'm the best diver!!!'  so who was I to argue with that!!  The colour drained from his dads face when he saw him going up and his mum was cheering him on!!  He did in my opinion the best 'plunge' the gala!!  What a star!!

Several races took place all through out the day!  Including a 'barking mad' race which all the swimmers had to doggy paddle down the pool whilst barking like a dog!!

We finished with a cannon which consisted of a 8 swimmer relay....by this time we only had 7 swimmers....so Tyler took on a double identity and swam twice!!  Another fine win for KSC!!

Overall it was a very mad and fun day!!  The kids who took part ( Aiden & Callum Williamson, Courtney Butters, Eleanor Aboutarab, Emily Bettridge, Jimi & Sam Knowles, Katie Horner and Tyler Meads) were all a credit to the club and their parents.

Kimberley Pram Race

Hi guys n galas, I am going to be entering the Kimberley pram race on the 22nd of July (Sunday)
I am after any ideas on how to make our 'pram' water themed. I am just asking for as many volunteers and supporters before the 22nd and on the day to collect money in buckets if anyone fancies helping out.

I need to know as soon as possible if you can help.

Many Thanks

Chris Hemstock.

Additional Friday Night Sessions

We have extra Friday night sessions over the coming weeks at both Loughborough and the Nottm University Pools for squad only.
Lane 5 Improver session swimmers may be offered the chance to join these sessions if there are spaces available.
We intend to take the opportunity to run some time trials at these sessions and have devised a small program to show what we have planned.

Date - 06/07/12
Loughborough - 100m/200m time trial IM
Nottm Uni    - General squad 25m session

13/07/12
Nottm Uni  - 25/50m time trials Butterfly & Freestyle

20/07/12
Loughborough - 100m/200m time trials Butterfly & Freestyle
Nottm Uni - General squad 25m session

27/07/12
Nottm Uni - 25/50m time trials Backstroke and Freestyle

03/08/12
Loughborough -100m/200m time trials Breaststroke & Backstroke
Nottm Uni - 100m/200m time trial IM

10/08/12
Nottm Uni - 25/50 m time trials Breaststroke and Backstroke

This program allows for all distances and all strokes (up to 200m) time trials in both 25m and 50m pools, however those attending should be aware that there will be some waiting around for swimmers in between their timed swims so they will need t shirts to stay warm and will need to be patient.

Where we have two sessions on the same night, some swimmers who put their name down for one session MAY/WILL be asked to attend the other session instead.

Please also note, due to the pool regulations numbers of swimmers are limited.  Our main target
for the time trials are swimmers who have 1 or 2 county qualifying times for 2013.
