On Saturday evening, Kimberley Swimming Club swimmers competed at Hucknall Leisure Centre, in the Gladys Hull Cup, hosted by Arnold Swimming Club.
As it was the Easter weekend the gala had an Easter theme, with each team wearing different fancy dress. Kimberley's swimmers all wore t'shirts with sheep on the front and pink shower caps, with sheep on them. In charge of the Kimberley sheep Alan wore a fetching pink shepherds outfit, with the Kimberley timekeepers and helpers all wearing full sheep outfits. On the night Kimberley won a prize for the best dressed team.
In the swimming as well as the usual swimming events there were some mystery individual and relay events the details of which were announced on the night. These events involved swimming with body boards doing kick, pushing a ball along and swimming through hoops amongst others.
Kimberley had a number of first places including - the mixed 10 by 25m cannon relay, Matthew Shipley in the boys 11/under 50m breast stroke and a mystery individual event, Lauren Gill Open age group 50m backstroke and a mystery individual event, Ben Barsby Open age group 50m backstroke, Lauren Shipley 9/under mystery individual event, Gemma Calder 15/under 50m breast stroke and Mollie Wright 15/under 50m butterfly and the 20x25m Cannon Relay.
