Broxtowe Sports Awards 2013

Do you know a volunteer or coach who has gone the extra mile? Or a club or participant who has reached the heights of success? Congratulate their efforts this year with a nomination for a Broxtowe Sport Award.
Broxtowe Sport are hosting an awards evening to celebrate the achievement, dedication, commitment and success of local people. Every day hundreds of people dedicate their time to sport through volunteering, coaching or participating in a variety of activities. The Broxtowe Sport's Review is the perfect way to congratulate those people for their efforts and / or achievement. Do you know someone you could nominate?

The Awards
The awards for this year's sports review are:


Sports Person of the Year(18 years and over)
Young Sports Person of the Year(Under 18 years)
Disabled Sports Person of the Year(Learning, sensory or physical disability)
Volunteer of the Year(Coach, official or parent, 18 years and over)
Young Volunteer of the Year(Coach, official or sibling, under 18 years)
Team of the Year(Age group or school team)
Club of the Year(Junior, adult or mixed club)
More than Sport Award(An award for a special person or group who have really made a difference. Open to everyone in Broxtowe)
Who can nominate?
Anyone can nominate. Including YOU!
Who can I nominate?
Anyone you know! It's not for celebrities - it's all about local people!

Alternatively, please complete the 'Broxtowe Sports Review 2013 Nomination Form' which can be downloaded from the 'Documents' section. Completed forms should be returned to the address at Broxtowe Sports Review, Eastwood Community Sports Centre, Mansfield Road, Eastwood, Nottingham, NG16 3EB.

All nominees must live or represent a team within the Borough of Broxtowe. Nominee information must cover the period of the 1st November 2011 - 31st October 2013. The Broxtowe Sports Awards covers a two year period. Information before 1st November 2011 will not be considered.
The closing date for all nominations is Thursday 31st October 2013.

A weekend of swimming

Coventry Open Meet.

Saturday the 21st of September and Kimberley swimmers Matthew Shipley, Lauren Shipley and Joseph Kingsland competed at Coventry in their sprint open meet. All had top eight and medal positions in the sprints meaning they made it through to compete in a 200m IM at the end of the meet.
Matthew after winning all his four sprints continued his winning streak by winning the boys 11yrs 200m IM, whilst Lauren came 2nd in the girls 9yrs 200m IM and Joseph 8th in the boys 10yrs age group.

Sheffield Teaspoon Open Meet.

Sunday the 22nd of September saw a number of Kimberley Swimmers compete in a number of 50m events at the Teaspoon Open Meet, Ponds Forge, Sheffield -
Ella Maher, Thomas Ellis, Jimi Knowles, Joshua Skinner, Lauren Neild, Jade Calder, Gemma Calder,Jade Duffy and Ben Barsby.

Some good Pb's were achieved by the swimmers with Jimi, Jade, Gemma and Ben making it through to the finals against tough opposition from a number of national swimmers. First time County times were achieved by the two 9 year olds Ella and Thomas on their first races in the Ponds Forge 50m pool.


Sports Centre League Round Four 21/09/2013

Saturday 21st of September saw Kimberley swimming club swimmers competing in Sports Centre League at Hucknall Leisure Centre.
On the night Kimberley came second, with some great personal bests and a number of first places against tough opposition -

Junior Triathlon



Absolute Triathlon Club are organising a Junior Aquathlon (swim/run) from 9.30am at Southglade Leisure Centre, Bestwood Estate, Nottingham.  Entries cost £5 each and are open to all juniors aged 8 to 16 on the 13th October.

Notts ASA Stage Two 14/09/2013

On Saturday 14th Sept Kimberley competed in the first round of the Notts ASA Stage Two competition at Worksop and came second on the night behind Worksop.



Special mentions to Bradley 2 p.bs and to Nathan, Jade Calder, Jimi, Abbey, Katie, Ted, Chloe, Joseph and Imogen on their pbs.
Jimi’s 50m Fly time was also a short course p.b

Also to Jade Calder for swimming under 30secs on a relay split – nearly there Jade!!

Great London Swim

Elliot Clements has recently competed in the Great London, 1 mile swim at the Docklands Sailing & Watersports Centre and came 68th out of 2060 competitors in a great time of 23:43.

Well done Elliot.

J.C Dobb Autumn Round One 07/09/2013

A good start to the gala season on Saturday saw us win the first gala of the J.C Dobb Autumn Competition.

County Champs 2014



The entry details for the County Championships – both Age Group and Youth – are now on the Notts ASA website.  The age this year is as of 29th March 2014.
This age applies to both the age group and the youths.




Once I have gone through everything properly I will give my cut off date for receiving entries. Please note the entry dates on the links are the Notts ASA dates. My date will be different due to the work required in sorting the entries.
