City of Sheffield Premier Open meet

Over the weekend, 3 swimmers, Mollie Wright, Charly Neilson and Matthew Shipley competed for Nova at the City of Sheffield Premier Open Meet at Ponds Forge.
All recorded good p.b times with Mollie ( 800m Free and 400m Free) and Charly Neilson ( 100m Breast) achieving National Qualifying Times.

Gladys Hull aka Sheep Gala 30/03/2013

On Saturday evening, Kimberley Swimming Club swimmers competed at Hucknall Leisure Centre, in the Gladys Hull Cup, hosted by Arnold Swimming Club.

As it was the Easter weekend the gala had an Easter theme, with each team wearing different fancy dress. Kimberley's swimmers all wore t'shirts with sheep on the front and pink shower caps, with sheep on them. In charge of the Kimberley sheep Alan wore a fetching pink shepherds outfit, with the Kimberley timekeepers and helpers all wearing full sheep outfits. On the night Kimberley won a prize for the best dressed team.

In the swimming as well as the usual swimming events there were some mystery individual and relay events the details of which were announced on the night. These events involved swimming with body boards doing kick, pushing a ball along and swimming through hoops amongst others.

Kimberley had a number of first places including - the mixed 10 by 25m cannon relay, Matthew Shipley in the boys 11/under 50m breast stroke and a mystery individual event, Lauren Gill Open age group 50m backstroke and a mystery individual event, Ben Barsby Open age group 50m backstroke, Lauren Shipley 9/under mystery individual event, Gemma Calder 15/under 50m breast stroke and Mollie Wright 15/under 50m butterfly and the 20x25m Cannon Relay.
On the night against tough opposition all the way from Cardiff, Kimberley came second.

County Champs - Final Weekend


Kimberley Swimming Club swimmers again competed over the final weekend of the Nottinghamshire ASA Age Group County Championships, held at Mansfield. The 'snowy' weekend saw most of Kimberley's County Qualifiers competing in a number of events and relays.

The top results for Saturday -

Jacqueline Jenkins-Weller finished first in the women's multi disability 50m freestyle and second in the 100m backstroke.

Matthew Shipley finished first in the 11/12yrs 50m freestyle to take the gold medal in a new personal best of 29.58. In the boys 11/12yrs 200m butterfly although Matthew made it through to the finals, unfortunately he didn’t finish the race.

Mollie Wright finished second in the girls 13/14yrs 400m freestyle, 4th in the 50m freestyle and 4th in the 200m individual medley heats and final

Charly Neilson finished third in the girls 13/14yrs 50m breaststroke and in the 200m individual medley achieved a Regional Qualifying time to add to her breaststroke qualifying times.

Joseph Kingsland (9yrs) qualified through to the final of the boys 9/10yrs 200m individual medley and came 5th in the final, achieving a 12year olds County Qualifying time in the process.

Chloe Bis finished 6th in the heats of the girls 9/10yrs 200 individual medley and 5th in the 50m freestyle

Bradley Francis (10yrs) finished 10th in the 9/10yrs 50m freestyle and made it through to the final of the boys 9/10yrs 200m individual medley and came 6th in the final.

Top results for Sunday –

Jacqueline Jenkins-Weller finished second in the women's multi disability 100m freestyle.

Joseph Kingsland (9yrs) finished 6th in the 9/10yrs 100m individual medley.

Matthew Shipley finished 4th in the 11/12yrs 1oom individual medley

Overall top ten awards, based on bagcat points, points achieved in their best sprint, form, medley and free, went to -

In the relay events that followed the 10yrs and under girls team made it through the heats to the final of the 200m medley and free final.
The medley team made up of - Katie Walker, Eve McGrenaghan, Imogen Spouge and Chloe Bis went on to come 2nd in the final and in the 200m free relay final the team made up of - Imogen Spouge, Lauren Shipley, Eleanor Aboutorab and Chloe Bis took the gold medals and the Championship title. 

Similarly the girls 14yrs and under team in both events made it through to the finals. In the 200m medley relay team made up of Jade Duffy, Charly Neilson, Gemma Calder and Mollie Wright took the silver medals whilst the 200m free team made up of Jade Duffy, Jade Calder, Gemma Calder and Mollie Wright, narrowly missed the medals, by less than half a second to finish fourth, which against tough opposition from around the County is still a great achievement.   

Well done to all the Kimberley swimmers that not only competed at the County Championships, but also qualified to compete at the Championships as that is an achievement in itself. Overall there were some great results, plenty of personals bests, trophies and top ten positions... so lets keep it up for next year and see if we can get even more top ten positions.

County Champs Day 4 16/09/2013

This time the swimmers took the long trek to Retford for the 4th day of competition in the County Champs.  It was the girls turn in the 200m Breaststroke whilst Matthew Shipley had the small matter of a 1500m Freestyle to face.

In the 9yr 200m Breaststroke,  Lauren Shipley ( 8 sec) Anya Deegan ( 13 sec) Eleanor Aboutorab (9 sec) Imogen Spouge ( 11 sec) Chloe Cheetham ( 21 sec) and Lily Orme ( 20 sec) all recorded excellent p.bs as did  Chloe Bis ( 10 sec) and Eve McGrenaghan ( 7sec) .  In the 13/14yr 200m Breast Jade Calder finished with an 8 second p.b.
In the same age group Charly Neilson( 1st) and Mollie Wright (3rd) both qualified for the final with Charly becoming the Notts ASA County Champ with a national qualifying time.

Matthew knocked a massive 58 seconds off his 1500m time and came 5th in the 11/12yr age group with a Midland Qualifying Time.

Broxtowe's Triathlon is a fun introduction to Triathlon. The event is a social event that can be enjoyed by friends, families, and work colleagues. Triathlon involves three short events linked together to make one exciting challenge. The event involves a 200Metre swim, a 7K bike ride and a 2.5K run or, a 400metre swim, a 19k bike ride and a 5k run.

Minimum age for the event is 15yrs. Team Option available.

County Champs Day 3 09/03/2013

7 boys and 2 girls travelled to Worksop for the 3rd days sessions of the County Champs.  The boys competing in the 200m Backstroke and the girls in the 800m Freestyle.

This time there was 8 p.bs from 9 individual events with Bradley Francis, Ted Goonan-Dunne, Joseph Kingsland, Jimi Knowles, Matthew Shipley and Aiden Williamson all recording p.b's in the 200m back, with Bradley (5th) and Matthew (3rd) making finals.  Josh Skinner was only 0.7 off his p.b.
The girls Charly Neilson and Mollie Wright swam the 800m free, both recording p.bs with Charly coming in 13th place in the 13/14yr age group and Mollie coming in 1st.

Another good night of swimming- well done to all.

Novice Gala 2013

The entry forms for the Novice Gala on  the 21st April @ Hucknall are now available. Most people will receive these by e-mail. The closing date for entries is Wednesday 10th April and no late entries will be accepted. This gala is for ALL improver session swimmers - Lanes 1,2,3,4 and 5 and small pool swimmers [and some of the lane 1 squad swimmers who have not yet had invitations to other galas] so make sure you get your entries in in good time! Depending on the number of entries to the Novice Gala, squad swimmers MAY be invited along for time trials ... Any queries re the Novice Gala, please ask!

Novice Gala 2013 Entry Form

Entries will be accepted based on the following criteria:

 The KSC definition of a Novice swimmer is:
o    All non-squad swimmers regardless of age
o    Any squad swimmer Age 9 or under as at the date of the gala
    (21ST April 2013)
o    9yr olds who have swam in the counties are deemed NOT to be Novices

 Swimmers are encouraged to enter as many events as possible. The cost is £2.50 per event or £11 for 5 events.

The Club recommends:
o    all improver swimmers choose either 25m or 50m events but NOT a mixture of both
o    all swimmers Age 7 & Under swim 25m events only
o    all squad swimmers aged 9 & Under to preferably swim 50m events

All novice swimmers will swim for awards and will receive a medal, regardless of the position they come, for each event they participate in (providing they are not disqualified)

There is a trophy for Best Boy and Best Girl based on positions gained overall


Age means your age on 21st April 2013

The CLOSING DATE FOR ENTRIES IS WEDNESDAY 10TH APRIL
Late entries will NOT be accepted and it will not be possible to enter events ‘on the day’



IMPORTANT NOTE:
Photographs will be taken at the Gala. All of their representatives are CRB checked but if any parents are not happy that photographs may/will be taken of their child(ren) then either Jean, Sharon or Alan should be made aware before the gala. Otherwise the club will assume that parents are happy with photography arrangements when registering their child(ren)to swim.

County Champs Day 2 03/03/2013

Wow what can I say.  Another fantastic day at the counties.  The kids have been a real credit to themselves.  39 p.bs from 45 swims.  Another four finals reached, Chloe Bis and Lauren Shipley - 200m Fly  and Mollie in the 200m Fly and 200m Free.
Some really outstanding p.bs in the girls 200m free and two more medals for Matthew Shipley.

There were really outstanding swims in the 200m Freestyle, Chloe Bis ( 14 second p.b)  Eve McGrenaghan ( 15 sec p.b) Charly Neilson ( 10 sec p.b) and 0.2 off a Midland time , Imogen Spouge (31 sec p.b) Eleanor Aboutorab ( 14 sec p.b) Lauren Shipley ( 10 sec p.b) Lily Orme ( 18 sec p.b)
Chloe Cheetham ( 6 sec p.b)  Elise Yorston and Katie Horner ( just over 4 sec p.b)  Jade Calder ( 5.77 sec p.b)  and Mollie Wright ( 3 sec p.b)  whilst Jade Calder just missed out on a Midland 100m Freestyle time by 0.4 second. Jasmine Fahy also recorded excellent p.bs in both the 200m and 100m Freestyle.

Both Matthew and Bradley Francis recorded over 10 second p.bs in the 400m Free whilst Imogen and Chloe Bis took over 30 seconds off their previous best 200m Fly Times and Lauren Shipley nearly 5 seconds off her p.b.

Other p.bs were achieved by Ted Goonan-Dunne, Adam Gregory, Jacqueline Jenkins-Weller, Joseph Kingsland, Matthew Shipley and Josh Skinner in the 50m Breaststroke with Jack Brown just outside his p.b. as was Aiden Williamson, Josh Skinner and Ted in the 50m Back.

Currently there are 10 Kimberley Swimmers in the top 10 of the bagcats.

County Champs Day One 02/03/2013

The swimmers had a succesful first day at the County Champs with 53 personal best times from 66 swims.Four finals were reached – Joseph Kingsland finishing 3rd in the 200m Breaststroke - the only nine year to reach the final, Bradley Francis finished 3rd in the 200m Freestyle, Matthew Shipley came 6th in the 11/12yr old 200m Free Final and Mollie Wright came 5th in the 200m Backstroke Final, and another swimmer Chloe Bis qualified for a final.  First place trophies for Mollie and Charly Neilson in the girls 400m I/M whilst both Bradley Francis and Matthew Shipley got a silver in the boys 50m Butterfly.
In the bagcats  Joseph Kingsland currently leads the 9 yr old boys, Ted is in 8th,  Imogen Spouge is second in the 9yr old girls with Lauren Shipley in 9th, Bradley is 3rd in the 10yr old boys, Chloe Bis 9th in the 10yr old girls,
Matthew Shipley leads the 11yr old boys, Charly Neilson is 3rd in the 13yr old girls and Mollie is 6th in the 14yr old girls.
