Great North Swim update
Robert, Russ and Elliot travelled to the Lake District on Friday only for the event to be cancelled
due to the adverse weather conditions, with a new date of Sunday for the swim.
Russ was unable to take part due to work, so Robert and Elliot set off again on Sunday,
fingers crossed that the weather would hold up and they could do their swim.
Good news greeted them and the event went ahead and 2 miles of Lake Windermere awaited them!
Robert completed his swim in 54 min 14 sec finishing 24th fastest out of 414 swimmers whilst
Elliot came in 40th with a time of 57mins 28secs.
Well done lads!! Many thanks to everyone who sponsored them .

Extra Training Sessions
To squad swimmers
Hopefully you will all have received the updated Diary Dates list that Jean sent out on 1st June.
This included 7 weeks of extra training at the Nottingham University Pool on Friday evenings which arose from an invitation from Bramcote swimming club because of dates which were unavailable at Loughborough due to the Olympic squads training there.
Originally we would have missed 3 dates at Loughborough, (6th and 20th July and 3rd August) but these have now been reinstated and there will be sessions at both pools on those dates - see below:
29th June - Bramcote [not the Uni for this first session] *
6th July - Nottingham Uni and Loughborough
13th July - Nottingham Uni
20th July - Nottingham Uni and Loughborough
27th July - Nottingham Uni
3rd August - Nottingham Uni and Loughborough
10th August - Nottingham Uni
A couple of the Uni /Loughborough sessions will be invitation only and used for Time Trials.
*One exception is this coming Friday - the 29th.
We have use of the whole pool at Bramcote (not the Uni as stated) so there are 6 lanes in a 25m pool available.*
It's necessary to book a place as you would for Loughborough so that we know who to expect so
please use the form at the desk this Wednesday 27th June or e-mail us if you can't attend on the 27th.
If not enough numbers to cover the hire of the pool we will open the sessions to Lane 5 improver session swimmers.

Midlands Age Groups.
On Saturday, at a surprisingly sunny Coventry, day 3 of the Midlands Age Groups Championships kicked off with Mollie Wright in the Nova 4x200m free relay, swimming the 3rd leg and pulling the team into the lead with a split which is a pb for her.....and they came 1st!!
Matthew Shipley qualified in 3rd place for the 200m Breaststroke but bettered this in the final knocking 7 seconds off his heat time to finish in second place.
Mollie then just missed out on a medal in the 4x100m Free relay....the team finished in 4th.
Charly Neilson missed her p.b by 100th of a second in the 200m Breaststroke but a great swim nevertheless.
Matthew then came second in the 200m Backstroke Final, after qualifying 2nd in the heats beating his previous p.b both times
Sunday saw the final day of midlands.....Matthew scored a huge 16 second pb in the 400m free, which gained him a silver medal. Mollie swam off her pb in 200 fly but made it into the final where she improved her heat time by 2 seconds, finishing in 5th.
Going in to the last ranking event Matthew was second place in the bagcats just one point behind his nearest rival. He swam a superb 100m Freestyle becoming the Midlands 100m Freestyle Champ and securing first place in the bagcat rankings. A fantastic achievement. Well done Matthew!!
Then finally, he had an I/M final to swim coming in 4th place.

Midlands Update
This weekend at the Midlands ended up a great weekend for Matthew Shipley, becoming the Midlands Champion in the 100m Backstroke.
His first event on Saturday, the 100m Breaststroke saw him gain a bronze medal, then later in the day he achieved a silver in the 400m I/M.
On Sunday he reached the final of the 200m Free qualifying in 3rd position. He bettered this in the final beating his qualifying time by 2 seconds to gain another silver.
Mollie Wright narrowly missed making the final on 200 Breast but swam a good time and went on to get a pb in 100m butterfly and just missed out on the final again in 200 IM. She was just off her pb's in the 200m back and the 400m Free.
Charly Neilson swam well in the 100 breast, just swimming outside her pb.
Well done to all three. The club is proud of you all.
