A reminder re swimwear!!!!

From January 2009, the rules changed regarding what swim suits can be worn for competition swimming as determined by FINA the sports governing body.

Please be aware that Female swimmers will only be allowed to use costumes that do not extend past the knee and do not cover the arms whilst the Male swimmers can only wear trunks or jammers (i.e from the hip to the knee)

Textile fabric only.

There are a lot of websites/shops selling swimsuits cheaply. Please make sure you buy the correct gear for competion swimming.

ALSO PLEASE NOTE, in competition swimming, the swimmers are NOT permitted to wear two costumes. If caught they will be disqualified.

Leicester Diddy League Final 25th June

On Saturday 25th we travelled to Braunstone for the final of the Leicester Diddy League. The swimmers swam brilliantly to record a third place finish thus jumping a place to finish third in the League this year.

The often very noisy gala had the usual parade around the pool by the six finalist and also a visit from a giant penguin! For those with ideas the answers no!!

Jessie Henderson started the gala superbly for the club with victory in the opening race, the girls 25m Breast, with Matthew Shipley following suit a couple of races later in the 25m free. Matthew was once again a winner in the 25m Back and our next two wins came from Mollie Wright in the 50m Free and 50m Fly. These were the only wins on the night but plenty of seconds and thirds were enough for our overall points tally.

Special mentions on the night go to Jade Duffy, Holly Orme, Florence Orme and Charly Pink who all had just the one swim, never complained but contributed greatly to the team effort.

Once again, well done to ALL the swimmers.

The kids swam brilliantly and recorded 34 p.bs between them.

Well done to all.

We had 6 swims too fast - Matthew Shipley (2) Rebecca Matthews, Greg Brown, Sam McGrenhaghan and Chloe Bis, all recording excellent p.bs, so no complaints from me.

Special mentions tonight go to Katie Horner, Chloe Bis and Angus James who all swam their first gala for the club and to Luke Snowden (2), Jade Kennerell (2) Holly Mansfield, Louis Peabody, Nathen Venn, Jade Duffy, Josh Shipman, Jade Calder and Hannah Cross for their first places and to Aiden Williamson who only had the one swim.

Due to the nature of the competition I cannot let you know where we came in the gala until the next round.
