Pot of Gold for Rainbows 22/07/2009

Two of our younger swimmers have recently taken part in a sponsored swim for the Rainbows Children Hospice.
Matthew Shipley swam a distance of 5 miles in 4 hrs and 45 minutes whilst Bradley Francis swam 4 miles in 4 hrs and 20 minutes at the David Lloyd Leisure Centre.
A terrific achievement by the boys - both 7yrs old.

Well done to both.

Lauren Reaches the Final!! 22/07/2009

At todays National Age Groups Championships i'm pleased to report that Lauren reached the final of the 200m Backstroke.
She came 9th in the 13year old heats in a time of 2.26.61 then had to wait until 7.50p.m
for the final, eventually finishing tenth place overall with a time of 2.30.34.
All this after being up at 5 o'clock in the morning, so a very long day!!

WELL DONE LAUREN. We are all proud of you.

J.C DOBB Spring competition 18/07/2009


Some fantastic swimming at tonights J.C DOBB round3 saw the club secure 1st place in tonights gala at Bramcote and also 1st place overall in the competition.

Special mention tonight to Lizzie Shaw (1st place), Michael Wilson, Jack Brown (1st Place), Jack Shaw (1st place), Alice Colquhoun(1st Place) , James Lickley, Rachel Swinburne(1st place) , Leah Roulstone (1st place) , Josie Henderson (1st place) Mathew Shaw, Sam Jervis and Tyler Meads (1st place) for their p.bs and to Mollie Wright for a first place in her 50m Free race.

To the 9yr olds Liam, Leah, Charly and Ryan for some great relays despite the one hiccup.

Also great relay wins for Michael, Emma, Jess and Jack Shaw, mixed medley relay) Mollie, Jess, Alice and Emma ( free relay) Frank, Georgia, Mollie and Matthew (mixed Medley relay) and the old timers, Chris, James, Robert and Russ (free relay) and to Beth Lowe for scoring some points for the team at last :-)!

And finally a fantastic cannon relay from Charly, Ryan, Mollie, Frank, Alice, Sam, Emma, Michael, Lizzie and Russ helped finish off a great night.

over the three rounds, notching up 55 1st place finishes
and 33 2nd places between them.

GOOD LUCK LAUREN!

Britains best young swimmers will be competing for national honours at Ponds Forge Sheffield, in the British Gas ASA National age group and National Youth Championships starting on Wednesday 22nd July, including our own Lauren Gill representing Nottingham Nova Centurian
(and Kimberley)

Lauren is competing in the 200m Backstroke event on Wednesday 22nd July and the 100m Backstroke on Saturday 25th July.
On Sunday 26th Lauren is also competing as part of the Individual Medley Relay Team.
She took part in this event in the Midlands Championships and the team won Gold.

Notts A.S.A Development League 2009

Notts Summer Gala 12/07/2009

Nine Kimberley Swimmers, Jack Brown, Aime Cheese, Emma Clements, Josie Henderson,
Sam Jervis, Tyler Meads, Georgia Stirland, Lukas Watson and Mollie Wright took part in the Notts A.S.A Summer Gala today at Beechdale notching up an impressive haul of 22 pesonal best times in 38 events.

The aim of the summer gala is to give swimmers of a county and regional standard the opportunity to compete at the end of the season in order to continue training with a purpose in line with the principles of Long Term Athlete Development.

Mary Davies Gala - Mansfield 11/07/09

The club competed in Mansfield Swimming Clubs Annual Mary Davies Gala at Water Meadows and earned a terrific 1st Place this evening. Racing against Mansfield, Sutton, Derby Phoenix and City of Sheffield we pipped C of S by just 2 points with only 5 points seperating the top 3.

Special mention tonight to -

Cameron Greenfield - 2 pb's and nearly 6 seconds off his 50m Back time and Elliot Clements 2 pb's.

Georgia Hawksworth, Sam Jervis, Rachel Swinburne, Scott Hutchinson and Daniel Knowles for personal best times.

James Lickley , Cameron Greenfield, Charly Neilson and Bethany Lowe for personal best times and breaking the speed limit!!

1st places on the night were achieved by Rachel Swinburne 100m Back, Georgia Hawksworth 100m Breast, Emma Clements 100m Free, Lukas Watson 50m Back, Ryan Pigott 50m Breast and the relay teams of Georgia, Mollie, Beth, Charly - Ryan, Tyler, Jack, Cameron and the girls cannon Georgia Stirland, Mollie, Emma Stephenson, Georgia Hawksworth, Laurie, Emma Clements, Lizzie Shaw and Lauren.

DRAYTON MANOR PARK - SEPT 6TH

The club has organised a trip to Drayton Manor Park on Sunday 6th September leaving the leisure centre at 8.30am and departing Drayton Manor at 5.00pm - returning in time for evening swimming. :-)

12 years + £ 21.00

60 years + £11.00

There in no wristband anymore so the cost is all inclusive.

Development League Round 2 (04/07/09)

A fantastic 28 pb's gained so well done to all the kids.

Unfortunately due to the nature of the gala I cannot give you placements for the individual races.

Special mention tonight go to Lisa Wright (announcing for the first time, and i'm sure we would all agree did a great job ) -- Diane and Kathryn for team managing - (not an easy job) - Sharon and Gail -recording - Ian Hawksworth for chief timekeeping - Russ and Lizzie - timekeeping and Lauren Gill and Daniel Knowles for filling the certificates in and running up and down all night -Thank you all.

And to those swimmers that only did the one event and never moaned - Frank, Pollyhannah, Jennifer, Beth Lowe , Laura Whitehead and Jack Brown and to Emma Banner for filling in at the last moment.

To Joe Banner and Ryan Pigott for swimming to instructions and some cracking relay swims from Jess, Hannah , Charly, Leah and Scott, Ryan, Ben and Liam.
