Presentation night messages. 23/11/2009

Hi to all the staff at KSC
Just a quick note to say thank you for all the effort that went into getting the trophys for the presentation Evening. They look fabulous and our kids are on cloud nine, it inspires them to want to swim and try their best.
Thank you again and we do appreciate all the hard work that goes into running the club and organising swimming sessions and events.
Thanks again
Lynne and Jonathan Orme (Holly, Alfie and Lily)

Just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone who helped to make the presentation evening a really good night!
We thought it was extremely well organised and the attention to detail was second to none! Hours of time must have gone into all the seating plans, decorations, power point, etc; and blood, sweat and tears must have been in abundance for those who prepared and wrapped all the beautiful trophy parcels! The way the trophies were given out this year made it interesting for the guests and really special for the children, and the extra time afterwards for a good old knees up was a bonus for everyone!
This has been an event that my children have looked forward to all year and it certainly lived up to, and beyond, their expectations! The trophies this year are lovely and it was a delight to see all the children’s faces light up as they went up to receive their awards!
Well done to Kimberley Swimming Club for such a fantastic evening, you all deserve a medal yourselves!

Regards
Nicola, Ray, Leah and Max Roulstone x

A message from the Colquhouns 23/11/2009

Gail, Adrian, Alice & Liam would like to say a big Thank You for all the good wishes they received on their pending move down under at the Presentation Evening on Saturday. The scrap book is fantastic and contains lots of great memories.

Although swimming outdoors in 50m pools and watching (sunbathing) in the viewing stands will be great , facilities aren’t everything and we just hope that we meet a nice bunch of people there like we have done at Kimberley. The Presentation evening showed us that KSC is more than just a swimming club.

Our last session will be Wednesday 9th December, hope we see lots of you there for our last tearful goodbye !

Thanks again

The Colquhoun family

Minor Gala League - Bingham - 17/10/2009

Illness and other commitments meant the club fielded a team that was not at full strength for the second round of the Minor Gala League at Bingham tonight.

5 dqs further hampered the teams score, eventually finishing in a disappointing but not suprising 5th place.

Special mention tonight to Mollie Wright - 3 first places, Georgia Tomlinson, Alice Colquhoun, Josh Housley, Ellie Poxon, Tyler Meads and Jess Hawksworth for their p.bs, Jack Brown for his first place and Jamie Barnard who did his first gala for the club tonight after being phoned up at 11 o'clock this morning to see if he wanted to do a gala and then posted a couple of good relay splits.

Club Champs Results Updated 15/10/2009

The new qualifying times for next years County Champs have been released by the Notts A.S.A

Unfortunately these arrived after our first Club Champs weekend.
We have updated the club champ results to reflect the differences in these qualifying times and to show those who have achieved the new times. Sadly this means that some who thought they had achieved a qualifying time no longer have one.
We are holding another Time Trial session at Heanor in November to give these kids another opportunity to achieve the new times.

Drayton Manor Park 06/09/2009

On Sunday 6th September at 8.30am (a rather early start for some people!!) a coach load of swimmers and parents from KSC set off for a day out to Drayton Manor theme park!
We arrived at Drayton Manor at about 9.30a.m. After racing off the coach and being given our tickets to get in, everyone made their way around the theme park. Not knowing that the rides didn't open till 10.30 we headed straight for the log flume and got right near the start of the queue, but then had to wait for 45 minutes for it to open! Whilst others had the more sensible idea of going to look around the zoo first whilst waiting for the rides to open! When the log flume finally opened, we were one of the first boats to set off so we didnt really know what to expect. Luckily, Alan chose to sit at the back.. and got SOAKED! Which was rather funny!) Unfortunately though, this meant he decided not to go on it again for the rest of the day as he wanted to dry off! (maybe some of the rest of us should have done the same instead of spending the whole day on the log flume which was very funny but also made us very wet and cold!) There were plenty of other rides to go on such as G-Force and Shockwave - for the more daring people, and also Thomas Land for the younger people (or not so young in some cases!).
At dinner, the ones which had brought lunch with us went back to the coach and sat in the car park to eat it, and the rich people amongst us bought some food there!
After being full once again with sandwiches, crisps, chocolate (and for some people, alcohol!) and also mostly dried off, or wearing a spare set off clothes!, we headed back into the theme park for the afternoon! Our first stop, after the toilets!, was the haunted house kind of thing which was horrible!! and resulted in a few tears, but the buffalo rollercoaster soon made up for that! We then made our way to the rapids which were finally open! And again, got a bit wet!! But again, was worth it! (Its a good job we are a swimming club and so are used to getting wet!!)
After the rapids, again we went on the log flume and about drowned once again! But had fun looking at the photos which were taken on the way down!
As we had to be back at the coach for 4-4.30 we then had our last go on the log flume, getting soaked! Which was perfect timing for the coach home.. NOT! Luckily, we had brought some spare clothes with us! (But could of done with more!) After emptying wellies full of water, sorting our hair out, taking and laughing at a few more photos, we headed back up to the coach, buying ice creams on the way!
When we got back onto the coach, we changed into spare clothes, ate some more food and waited for the coach to leave! After taking even more photos, giving each other new 'hairstyles'. singing along (very well!) to the radio and playing a few games of hangman, we finally arrived back at the leisure centre, having enough time to go home, have some tea and be back again in time for a training session that night! Commitment!!!
Overall, it was an awesome day!! Great memories and great photos! Would definitely go again! But for longer next time, so that we could see the rest of the theme park and the zoo!
Thank you for organising it and can't wait for the next KSC day out!!
Lizzie :)"..
